For our first taster session in the Barbara Hepworth Building, we started in the Print Room. The idea for each of the taster sessions is to get myself and everyone else acquainted with all the machinery and recourses at our disposal. Meaning that the logical place to start would be the Print Room, as it is guaranteed to be a place where I spend time this next year.
To start off the session, we were shown the Perfect Binding Machine. This is used to grip pages of a book together down the spine with what is essentially double-sided tape, before the cover can be placed over the top of the pages. We didn't need to the use the machine in this session but instead, we used a roll of double-sided tape to stick a mini paper cover onto s small booklet.

Another machine we looked at was the Creasing Machine. This smaller contraption is used to crease 4 lines into a book cover, so it is ready to be folded around the binded book pages. The wires shown in Figure 3 are used to crease the paper by lining the paper up with set stops to get the result in Figure 4. The steps are clearly shown on the machine and make it a really easy process before manually folding the cover as I did in figure 2.
